Welcome back!

We have spent the last two weeks with some awesome discussions. We are seeking to discover our God-given potential so that we might make decisions that will allow us to impact our world for God's Kingdom. We are each unique and awesome creations of God. It is up to us to use what God has given us to do amazing things for His Kingdom.

This Sunday, I will be away as I attend a class. But Merge will go on. We are having a pizza party and will be watching a video by Rob Bell, that will be followed by discussion. Merge will be meeting at Albert Hall in Buffalo. So come on out and join in the fun and don't forget to bring a friend.

We will return to our discussions on our God-given potential the following Sunday, Jaunary 29.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome back!

Happy New Year!! 2005 is gone and 2006 has begun--and what a great year it is going to be. December gets us all thrown off with the busyness, but we are ready to get focused and to move forward in our lives for God.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to spend some time talking about our potential. Each of us has within us talents and passions that are there for a reason. God placed them there. The question is: What are you doing with them? Do you feel like you are just floating through life, barely making it from day to day? Or are you honed and focused, ready to move into the future with passion and commitment? To borrow the old Army slogan, are you "Being all that you can be?" We are going to work to discover the unique makeup that God has given each of us and how to use it to live a more powerful life.

The schedule for the next three weeks:
January 8th: 6:30 at Albert Hall in Buffalo
January 15th: 6:30 at Albert Hall in Buffalo
January 22nd: to be determined (watch for another email)

Hope to see you this Sunday night! Come on out and bring a friend.

Jeremy

Don't forget that Merge on Sunday, November 27 is a Taco party at mine and Christie's house (email me for directions). Bring a topping and come on out.

Also, we are having a workshop at the church in Buffalo this Saturday. It is entitled "Becoming a Kingdom Guide" and goes from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with lunch provided. Come on out and join us as we discover practical ways to guide others to God's Kingdom.

Just for fun, here is a link to a cool optical illusion.

Welcome back!

We had a great time last night at Panera. We found it nice to get into a different environment. We decided that being mobile with various locales as a part of who we are was a good thing. So next week(November 20), we are going to meet at a bowling alley (check back midweek for time and location) for a couple of games and bowling and discussion. On November 27, we are having taco night at my and Christie's house. Mark your calendars.

Last night we shared with one another a little bit about our journeys up to this point in our life. We found that we each had unique pasts with our experiences with God and the church, but we also found that we had many similarities. Several shared a sense of "waking up" at some point in their life to the realization of a life alive in God--no longer being content to just go throught the motions or do church as usual. But a deep hunger and desire to discover the heart of God and live out of the reality of His Kingdom. This will help to focus our future conversations together.

We created a list of topics that we will tackle as a group.
1. Prayer--Listening to God--Really hearing God
2. Commitment to Jesus and to the group
3. Making more room for God in a busy life
4. How to live the Christ-following life in all circumstances
5. Sharing my excitement about Christ with others in a way that will excite them
6. How to be more like Christ

We brainstormed ideas for serving others and this is what we came up with so far.
1. Volunteer to help sort and organize food at the Central Illinois Foodbank.
2. Go visit a pediatrics floor in a hospital or a juvenile detention center. Take an act with us to entertain them and spend time visiting.

We also decided that want to play together as well (thus the bowling).

These ideas are only the beginning. You can help us be even more creative. It is going to be amazing all that we can do and the creative ways we will do it for God when we release all of the talents and creativity that He has placed within us. I am so excited.

Be sure to check back later this week for details about Sunday and some discussion starters. Have a great week.

Welcome back!

How is everyone's week going? We have a couple of sick kids this week so life is staying very interesting.

We are going to be doing something a little different this Sunday night for Merge. We will be gathering at Panera on Dirksen Pkwy from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We will not be at the church in Buffalo. Make sure you pass this on to all of your friends that you may have invited.

We are going to try several different things with our gatherings for the rest of the year to see what works best for us. Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 27 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) we will meet at our house for Taco's and fellowship. The address is 208 Elm St, Dawson, IL. There will be an opportunity to sign up to bring some toppings at the next couple of Sunday gatherings or you can drop me an email to say you would like to bring something.

Also mark your calendars for New Years Day. January 1st falls on Sunday this year. For that evenings gathering we will have a party at our house. More info will come later about the details.

Hope to see you Sunday.
